Ed was not gay, but, as many people in Amsterdam are, very gay-friendly. He was happily married with two children, a boy and a girl. I was friends with him for several years. He picked me up for dinner at his place with his family when I was visiting A'dam. I came out of my gay hotel, and there was Ed in skintight jeans leaning over his car. My stock went way up at the hotel after that! Very, very sweet and funny man, and it's a tragedy that he died so young.
