One of bodybuilding's greats (and a hearthhrob for several generations of gay guys), VIC SEIPKE will turn 80 on April 23. At 18, after only two of years of liifting in the family garage in Detroit, he took the Mr. Michigan title, the first of many trophies (including Jr. Mr. America 1955) he was to collect during a quarter-century of competing--all the while working as fireman--that manliest of callings. During the 1950s, physique photographer Douglas of Detroit spread his pictures everywhere--from the covers of all the big muscle mags to the deepest recesses of many a bedside table. Although full-frontal nudity was still outlawed, Vic was happy to bare his estimable all for Douglas time & time again, but not, alas, in this posing movie he did for Spectrum Films. (Here, though, as someone observed, "that tiny pouch is fighting a losing battle with Vic's plums--they are begging for release." Today, Vic--and Marge, his wife for the past 56 years--live in happy retirement in a golfing community in the Tampa area. As fit and handsome as ever, he still works out three days a week.
