In total agreement, bbwannabe. Nothing impressive in bending a flat piece of metal like that. He may have a problem with even a 3/8"" bar and surely will be stopped by the 1/2 inch bar you propose. You have to be strong to bend that but there is also just as much technique needed to accomplish any bar bending as well as a strength component

That looks like a metal strip made from aluminum. *I* could bend that. Let's see him do that with 1/2 inch thick iron rebar; then I'll be impressed.
