He is out of jail now, released by roytal decree. Fellow bodybuilders like Gary Strydom
have always maintained Bertil's innocence of the double murder charge.

When I was a horny muscle-crazed teen in the late 70s, sneakily buying muscle mags when I could afford them, Bertil was an elusive legend. The American mags occasionally mentioned this British monster of muscle, but we’d only get small, tantalizing pics. Still, one could see the round, full shape of his huge arms and pecs, and the appetite was whet for more. Only in the 80s did we get a full appreciation for his enormity.
